Houston Construction Careers Expo

On October 30, over 400 participants gathered to take part in the 2012 Construction Careers Expo in Houston, Texas. The Expo featured craft demonstrations in concrete finishing, personal protective equipment (PPE), insulating pipe, painting, scaffolding, electrical wiring, instrumentation fitting, welding and carpentry. Other activities included a pipefitting competition where participants assembled marshmallow blow guns from sets of drawings, a drill gun competition, a Get Your Gear On competition, and instrumentation, crane and excavator simulators. In addition, students got the unique opportunity to hear from NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver David Starr, whose career began as a career and technical education student at Aldine High School in Houston.
