Dallas-Fort Worth Construction Career Day

« Back to News & Events

On October 31, the Build Your Future campaign teamed up with the Construction Education Foundation of North Texas (CEF) and North Lake College (NLC) to host the second annual Construction Career Day event in Irving, Texas. TEXO and the American Subcontractors Association (ASA) sponsored the event and provided over 100 construction industry volunteers. Over 700 students representing 35 north Texas high schools spoke with local employers in the construction industry, watched equipment and welding demonstrations and visited booths representing various professions in construction. As a bonus, students had the opportunity to meet and hear from 3-time Indianapolis 500 winner and Texas-raised race car driver Johnny Rutherford, aka “Lone Star Jr.”

None of this would have been possible without the support of the sponsoring organizations: TEXO and ASA, CEF of North Texas, North Lake College, Fluor, NCCER, NACB, Rogers-O’Brien Construction, TD Industries, Prism Electric, Austin Commercial, Baker Triangle, Balfour Beatty Construction, City Wide Mechanical, DynaTen, Hill & Wilkinson General Contractors, Hilti, Howard F.
